Sorry for the title DreamHost, I couldn’t resist. I’ve challenged DreamHost (in this thread ) to prove their claim that their growth is not dropping compared to Hostgator. DreamHost had read my Dreamhost vs Hostgator review and felt compelled to respond (which notably criticizes on a few points such as price, the setup fee, and features of DreamHost) ultimately not to the more glaring criticisms, but rather my claim that their financial growth wasn’t as impressive as Hostgator’s that got their attention.

The news of the week has been that Hostgator, previously ranking #21 on the Inc. 5000 list, has now ranked #239, still extremely impressive. The small drop off is to be expected when you continuously double your revenue. Hostgator’s 2008 revenue was $34.2 mil, whereas in Hostgator’s 2007 revenue was $18.7 million.  That’s an amazing growth rate that I highly doubt DreamHost’s web hosting service can claim anywhere near as fast a prace of growth. I sincerely hope DreamHost would provide me with their financial “facts” so I can publish them here (since they are not published anywhere else easily accessible on the web), and prove myself wrong.
